Telecommunications and E-commerce
In Peru, the modernization and development of telecommunications has been declared to be in the national interest as a result of the change in the State's role in this sector. The entity in charge of supervising private investment in telecommunications (OSIPTEL) was created in 1991 for the main purpose of giving the largest possible number of people access to modern telecommunications services, based on a scheme that supports free and fair competition between operators. Moreover, the telecommunications market opening process began in August 1998. Our telecommunications experts provide legal advice on regulations (concessions, authorizations, licenses, registration and permits for the provision of telecommunications services), as well as on the procedures to be followed with OSIPTEL and the Ministry of Transport and Communications.
